God's Password To Access Heaven

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags:

As an authorized library substitute for one of our local school districts, I am frequently called to substitute for any one of approximately one hundred school librarians within the district.

My duties require me to logon to the librarian’s computer in order to gain access into the school library’s database.

In order to successfully logon, a predetermined authorized generic password is provided for all library substitutes within the district. Without the password, a library substitute cannot access the library database.

Similarly, did you know that God requires an authorized password in order for us to successfully access or gain entrance into heaven? (Matthew 28:18; John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

And what is the authorized password, you ask?

The nine letter password is: o-b-e-d-i-e-n-c-e (or a derivative thereof – Romans 6:17; cf. Gal. 3:1; Gal. 5:7; Philippians 2:12; 2 Thessalonians 3:14; Hebrews 3:18; Hebrews 5:9; Hebrews 11:8; 1 Peter 1:22).

Without this password, no one can gain entrance into heaven (1 Peter 1:18-22).

How do we acquire this password?

By studying God’s authoritative and inspired word (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV; 2 Timothy 3:16-17) and then doing what it says do regarding our salvation (Mark 16:16 (belief – baptism); Acts 2:38 (repent – baptism); Acts 22:16 (baptism – wash away sins); Acts 17:30 (repent); Romans 10:8-10 (confess – believe); Romans 10:17 (faith – hearing).

Let’s think about the above Scriptures and then take action to acquire the only authorized password that will allow us to gain access [entrance] into heaven (2 Peter 1:2-11; cf. Matthew 7:21).
