Genesis 1:20-23
Categories: Bible Study Lessons Tags: Bible Lessons on GenesisThe Lord has created and arranged a home suitable for living creatures, a home with air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, appropriate light and darkness and, for those creatures intelligent enough to make use of it, a means of marking time. Moses has taken great care to show that the God that brought Israel out of Egypt is responsible for the creation of all these things. There remains the task of explaining the origins of the living, moving, breathing creatures of the earth. One of the gods yet to be encountered by the Israelites was Dagon (Judg. 16:23; 1 Samuel 5:1-5), god of the Philistines. He was represented by a fish. Moses reveals that they are created by God as well and are not to be worshiped. In Egypt many of the gods commonly worshiped were creatures created by God.
