Galatians 3:27 — A Question
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesA querist asks, “In Galations, Paul states that those who “have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Gal. 3:27 KJV).
Does the phrase “have put on Christ” mean that we put on Christ’s divine characteristics or nature (2 Peter 1:4; cf. Romans 13:14; Gal. 2:20; Ephesians 4:24-25)?
We “have clothed ourselves with Christ” (Gal. 3:27 NIV), when we clothe ourselves in His righteousness which comes from understanding and obeying His righteous word (Romans 1:16-17; Romans 6:16-17; cf. Psalm 119:142; Psalm 119:151; Psalm 119:172) — baptism being a part of His word.
