Does God forgive multiple backslidings?

does god forgive multiple backslidings

I’m just wondering does God forgive multiple backslidings? I’ve been in and out of church about 3 times and am deeply troubled by this subject, but am wanting God to forgive me for my failures and backslidings. I saw one guy suggest that once you’ve been saved and turn away, God will no longer forgive you of your sins. Any information on this subject and prayer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

God will always forgive sin if you turn in penitence to Him, confess your sins, and resolve to walk in His ways again. If God under the Old Covenant could forgive David for adultery and murder (2 Samuel 12:13), then God certainly will forgive you under the New Covenant of the blood of Christ. Jesus is a merciful High Priest (Hebrews 2:17).

Also, Jesus taught us to ask for forgiveness of sins when we pray to God (Luke 11:4). Do you think that He would tell us to ask for forgiveness if He wasn’t willing to grant forgiveness? The only condition that we have to worry about in receiving forgiveness from God is that we are willing to forgive those who sin against us. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Richard, I assume you are a Christian. If you are, then you need to repent of your sins and ask God for forgiveness. If you have sinned publicly, then you need to make a public confession before the church and ask them to forgive you and help you not to be a backslider. Then you need to resolve in your heart to follow through with your repentance and make the changes in your life that you need to make. You also need to forgive yourself. You need to put your failures behind you and go forward in your life toward greater service in God’s kingdom (Phil. 3:13, 14).

Here is a prayer that you can pray to ask for forgiveness of backsliding.

Dear Father. You are truly Holy and Righteous and all of our righteousness is as filthy rags. I come before you today Father because You have loved me enough to send Your Son Jesus to die for me. I know Father that You don’t want anyone to perish, but that You want all to have eternal life with You. I pray Father that You would forgive me of my sin of backsliding, and give me the strength that I need to stand up and be faithful in Your kingdom. I pray Father that You would bless me and encourage me to go forward and to forgive myself and remove the guilt that I feel for sinning against You and Your Holiness. Oh Father, I am so thankful for the blessing of your Son Jesus. I thank you for His sacrifice. I thank you for His love. I thank You for Your love Father. Give me a blessing to serve Thee in Thy kingdom. And when this life is over, I humbly pray that You take me home to Your glory and give the promised inheritance of eternal life. In Jesus Name I humbly beg these things. Amen!

Now, be confident that God has forgiven your sins!
