Do animals go to heaven?

Do dogs and other animals go to heaven?

Ecclesiastes 3:21 states, “Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?” Solomon compares man to beasts in this chapter. While men have a soul that will return to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7), animals do not. It was man that was made in God’s image, after God’s likeness (Genesis 1;26). Animals were not so made. Hence, while animals have animation, they have no spirit and no expectation of either eternal reward or punishment.
