Why is the cross not important in the church of Christ?

How could you ever go into a congregation of the churches of Christ and not think the cross is important is beyond me.
The hymns are drenched with the cross of Christ. The Lord’s Supper is practiced every first day of the week.
The cross is proclaimed from the pulpit.
In prayer, we are thankful for His sacrifice.
It’s like saying the sacrifice in the old law wasn’t important if there wasn’t a visible representation of the sacrifice in the tabernacle or temple.
Why would we put a cross in the building?
We are to contend earnestly for the faith, Jude 3. Where is putting the cross in the church building in the faith?
We are not to go beyond what is written, 1 Cor. 4:6. Where is it written?
We will be judged by the words of Christ, John 12:48. Where is it in the words of Christ, or in the words of the apostles he gave his words to? John 17:8.
