Comfort Or Discomfort? — A Consideration

Brother Al Diestelkamp, one of the writers for the “Think On These Things” publication, has produced an article entitled, “Desperately Seeking Comfort On Earth,” in which he emphasizes the fact that seeking comfort on earth should not be the primary goal of a Christian.
Rather, we should be considering and seeking a place where we’re needed the most — a place where our godly Christian influence would make a vast difference in the lives of people.
As Brother Diestelkamp points out:
“Most people look forward to a time in life when they can leave the work force and enjoy retirement. A faithful Christian, who is so blessed is afforded a unique opportunity to be of service in a place where the need is great. There are many struggling churches that could benefit greatly from the addition of a mature man and his wife. However, if comfort in this life is the primary goal, the retiree is likely to squander that opportunity.”
Brethren and friends, let’s not “squander that opportunity,” but seriously consider working in an area where people greatly need the saving gospel of Christ, no matter what trials or tribulations, or discomfort we might incur.
As Brother Diestelkamp points out at the end of his article regarding comfort:
Our “comfort” is being prepared by our Lord (John 14:1-4).
