INTRODUCTION: 1 Samuel 15:1-31

A. In 1 Samuel 8 we find an incident that forever changed Israel’s course – and it was a change for the worse.

1. 1 Samuel 8:1-7

a. They rejected God as their King and wanted to be like the nations around them.

b. They were warned of the results of this kind of rebellion… 1 Samuel 8:18-19

2. Saul was the people’s choice to be their first king

a. Saul’s reign was filled with one indiscretion after another

INTRODUCTION: Genesis 6-9

A. Almost 11 centuries after the creation of Adam and Eve, Lamech had a son whom he called “Noah”

1. Lamech was 182 year old when Noah was born

2. Methuselah was Noah’s grandfather and was a contemporary with Adam for 243 years.

3. Methuselah knew first hand the events of the garden of Eden … creation, provisions, the fall

4. Lamech, again – the father of Noah, was 56 when Adam died and clearly understood the fall of man and the curse of God – Genesis 5:28-29

5. Methuselah and Lamech heard Enoch preach and saw the example of his noble life … of him it was said – Genesis 5:24

6. All of this must have made a deep impression on Noah

B. But something terrible happened, man refused to obey God

1. Genesis 6:5-6

a. Man did only evil continually

PROPOSITION: Daniel is a great example of 1) obedience, 2) wisdom, 3) prayer.

AIM: To instruct and encourage by studying lessons from the life of Daniel.

SUBJECT: God, God’s People

TITLE: Studies in Daniel – God’s Protection

PROPOSITION: In the story of Daniel in the lion’s den we see 1) Conspiracy, 2) Confrontation and Condemnation, 3) Conservation, 4) Consternation.

OBJECTIVE: That the hearer would be familiar with the story of Daniel in the lion’s den and be familiar with lessons from that chapter.
