In Matthew 20:20-21, we have an account of the mother of James and John (the sons of Zebedee) coming to Jesus desiring a favor of Him. This mother’s wish was that her two sons would be granted the privilege of sitting with Jesus in His kingdom – one being seated on the right hand and […]
Please open your Bibles to Job 2:7-13. Description of Job’s Disease Vs. 7-8 – Satan unleashes his second sortie against Job afflicted Job with a terrible disease. From the various descriptions of Job’s disease in the book (Job 2:8; 7:4-5; 13:14; 13:28; 16:16; 16:8; 17:1; 19:20; 19:26; 30:17; 30:30), it has been strongly suggested that […]
Prophecy is foretelling an even in such detail before it happens so as to necessarily require divine guidance. The Bible is a book containing hundreds of detailed prophecies. There are, for example, well over sixty distinct predictions in regard to our divine Savior Jesus Christ. Not only were some these predictions made one thousand years […]
In Matthew 18:1-6, Jesus gives some very important qualifications for those who would enter the kingdom of heaven. He would say, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Notice that this is something all who wish to enter that heavenly abode must do. But […]
God, in His wisdom, saw fit from eternity to establish the church. Ephesians 3:10-11 reads, “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This organization of […]
There is righteous worship and there is unrighteous worship. The former is to please God and the latter is to please self. Abel presented his offering to God by faith (Hebrews 11:4). This means that he heeded the instructions of God on how God was to be approached (Romans 10:17). By implication we know, then, […]
A study of Bible “types” and “antitypes” is a fascinating study. A “type” is defined as: “A biblical person, thing, action, event, ceremony, structure, furniture, number, etc. that prefigures an ‘antitype’ of the same in the New Testament”. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary provides this simple definition: “a person or thing (as in the Old Testament) believed to […]
The Officials Declare – Jesus Is King Matthew’s purpose in this chapter is to explain how Jesus fulfilled the prophecies related to his locative origins and tell us how Jesus ended up coming from Nazareth. One criticism that was leveled against Jesus was that no prophet ever arose out of that area (John 7:52). Matthew […]
The atoning blood of Christ is important as we think of Christ’s sacrifice made for all mankind through the shedding of His blood at the cross (Hebrews 9:12-14; cf. Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:7). The blood of Christ also motivates Christians to reflect upon His suffering and death (1 Peter 2:24). Through examination of the […]
Jeremiah is one of the great prophets of the Old Testament. At times, this honorable seer is referred to as the “weeping prophet,” because of the heartfelt messages he proclaimed. “And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as […]
February 26th, 2003 Based upon the definitions upon which we agree about general and specific authority, I argue that the church has general authority to give to non-saints from Galatians 6:10. The reasoning that I would offer on this behalf is that Paul is writing to the churches of Galatia (1:2) and so the epistle […]

Several years ago, I was having a conversation with someone about getting credit for ideas. I mentioned to them that it doesn’t matter to me if I get credit for an idea or not, because God knows who did what and I was content to let God handle such things. This person then wondered whether […]
The following is a chart of information concerning the New Testament church as described in the scriptures. It was constructed by Bro. Charles Burke, minister for the congregation in Bisbee, Arizona. It is an excellent teaching tool for use in teaching the establishment and organization of the Lord’s church. 1) The Reign Of The New […]
The other day I was having a conversation with someone who was, in essence, asking for a list of things that were right and wrong for Christians to do. His contention was that since we believe that we must be obedient to God and live a life that is holy and pure that therefore, we […]
Is Baptism Essential — Bible Lesson by Tom Moore presenting timeless truths about baptism; its essentiality, subjects, etc.
THE LAND PROMISE The Lord promised to Abraham that his seed would have a land of their own. This information should have edified the children of Israel who first read it. They should have been comforted hearing that the God that delivered them from the land of their bondage had a place for them. Sadly, […]
The prophecy that King Lemuel’s mother taught him over twenty-seven hundred years ago concerning the virtues of a godly woman in Proverbs 31 is just as true today as it was then. Woman’s Role The subjective, submissive role of women in the home and church has never lent itself to public accolades or front-page recognition. […]
We have all watched shows from time to time purporting to explain certain “mysteries” within the Bible. Usually in these programs, the writers set forth an allegedly “unexplained” phenomenon discussed in the scriptures and then seek the professional opinions of scholars and educators from different institutions of higher learning. The result of these programs is […]
