SUBJECT: Salvation

TITLE: The Prodigal Son

PROPOSITION: In this lesson, we will look at the parable of the prodigal son, his 1) Ascending, 2) Descending, and 3) Rescinding.

OBJECTIVES: Each hearer should be able to discuss the parable with those who are lost.

AIM: The focus of this lesson will be upon the younger son, not the elder. It is my purpose to discuss his case alone in this lesson.

In Luke 12:47, 48 at the conclusion of the parable of the faithful steward, Jesus said, “And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.  But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

In this lesson, we will look at the first five books of Old Testament history. Each hearer will be more familiar with the first five books of Old Testament history. This lesson will set forth an overview of each of these books of Old Testament history.

SUBJECT: Stewardship

TITLE: Christian Attitude Toward Wealth

PROPOSITION: The Christian attitude toward wealth should recognize, 1) our relationship with God regarding wealth, 2) the reasons God has given for wealth, 3) the problems associated with wealth.

OBJECTIVES:The hearer should be able to understand their responsibilities and attitudes toward wealth.

AIM:I want everyone to have a proper, healthy, and reverent attitude toward the teaching within the Bible regarding wealth.

INTRODUCTION:

SUBJECT: Salvation

TITLE: Raising Our Ebenezer

PROPOSITION: We raise our Ebenezer when 1) we depend upon God in difficult times, 2) acknowledge God’s help in prayer, 3) remember God’s help in our salvation.

Objectives: That each understand God’s role of help in our lives both physically and spiritually.

The woman was healed who had an issue of blood: her: 1) Condition, 2) Cure, 3) Closure. Each would understand how to have a living and active faith.

SUBJECT: Attitudes

TITLE: The Value of the Soul

PROPOSITION: In this sermon, we will give three reasons why the soul is the most valuable thing that any person possesses: 1) The soul is constant; the world is perishable. 2) The soul is a unique creation. 3) The soul cost the life of the Son of God.

AIM: To help everyone recognize that the soul is more valuable than anything and is worth sacrificing everything for its salvation.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Mark 8:36, 37 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

SUBJECT: Self Discipline

TITLE: The ABCs of Getting Out of our Comfort Zones

PROPOSITION: To set forth the fundamental things we must do to begin to get out of our comfort zones, namely 1) Attend the services; 2) study the Bible; 3) imitate the Christ.

Aim: It is my aim to impress upon each person the church’s need for him or her to get out of their comfort zones by doing these three things as a start!

OBJECTIVES: The hearer should be able to state who is eligible for marriage and who may get a divorce and who may marry after divorce.

AIM:I hope to teach each listener what God’s word says regarding marriage, divorce, and remarriage.

TITLE: The Bible–Its Authority

PROPOSITION: In this lesson, we will BRIEFLY look at four aspects of Bible authority: 1) That the Bible is authoritative, 2) That the Bible constitutes a pattern for faithfulness to God, 3) That to receive the blessings of God we must abide within His authority, 4) That we can know we are living within God’s authority by understanding how God authorizes.

OBJECTIVES: The student should have a basic understanding of Bible authority and be able to state in his own words these four concepts.

AIM: I want to set forth the idea that in order to be faithful to God we must respect and abide by God’s authority.

PROPOSITION: How do we do what we can? How do we know that we have done what we could?

Objectives: That each would understand what God expects in regard to our abilities.

Aim: To encourage everyone to use what abilities they have not fret over the ones they don’t have. To focus upon what we can do, not upon what we can’t do.

SUBJECT: Jesus

TITLE: “I am the Good Shepherd”

PROPOSITION: The Good Shepherd cares for the sheep by 1) Warning them concerning dangers to the flock, 2) Guarding the entrance and exit to the fold, and 3) Laying down His life for the sheep.

OBJECTIVES: Each listener should be able to state how the Good Shepherd warns concerning dangers to the flock, guards the entrance and exit to the fold, and lays down His life for the sheep.

AIM: To emphasize our constant need to be vigilant against the enemy by following the Good Shepherd.

TITLE: Saved by Grace

PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will discuss Ephesians 2:8-10. We will note: 1) The source of salvation. 2) The substance of salvation. 3) The selflessness of salvation. 4) The state of salvation.

OBJECTIVES:Each person should be able to discuss the meaning of Ephesians 2:8-10 with supporting scriptures.

AIM: To educate the brethren regarding Ephesians 2:8-10 so that they can discuss it with others.
