Assurance of Salvation

PROPOSITION: To set forth the assurance of salvation.

OBJECTIVE: That we have assurance of salvation.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Colossians 2:2-3.

2. Regarding the text:

1) Calvinism is one of the most destructive doctrines in the entire world.

2) TULIP.

3) “All sins, past, present and future are forgiven.”

4) “Once saved, always saved.”

5) Calvinism, not Bible and certainly not New Testament.

3. Reference to Subject, Title, Proposition and Objective.

DISCUSSION: There is assurance of salvation in Christ if one —

I.   OBEYS GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION.

1. 1 Tim 2:3-4 (ASV)

2. Ephesians 3:8-11.

3. 2 Peter 3:9.

4. The New Testament, Hebrews 9:15-17; 10:9-10.

5. The plan: hear, believe, repent, confess, and be baptized.

II.  CONSISTENTLY APPLIES THE SECOND LAW OF PARDON.

1. Why do we need a second law or avenue of pardon?

2. 1 John 1:8 and 10; 1 John 2:15-17; Galatians 5:19-21.

3. Acts 8:22.

4. James 5:16.

5. James 5:15

III. WORSHIPS ACCORDING TO NEW TESTAMENT AUTHORITY.

1. John 4:23-24.

2. Many kinds of unacceptable to God worship:

IV.  LIVES HIS LIFE ACCORDING TO NEW TESTAMENT AUTHORITY.

1. Colossians 3:17.

2. Acts 20:32.

CONCLUSION:

1. There is blessed assurance in Christ if one:

1) OBEYS GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION;

2) CONSISTENTLY APPLIES THE SECOND LAW OF PARDON;

3) WORSHIPS ACCORDING TO NEW TESTAMENT AUTHORITY; and

4) LIVES HIS LIFE ACCORDING TO NEW TESTAMENT AUTHORITY.

2. This is the only assurance God has given.
