Resurrection Sermon Outline – I am the Resurrection and the Life

SUBJECT: Jesus

TYPE: Topical/Expository

TITLE: John 11:25 Sermon | I Am The Resurrection and the Life

PROPOSITION: Jesus is the resurrection. Identifying Jesus in this way means that He is 1) The Son of God, 2) Powerful and Authoritative, 3) The bringer of hope, 4) The bringer of life, 5) The Promiser, 6) The Overcomer, 7) The Future.

OBJECTIVE: Each hearer will be able to grasp the significance of this claim, understand how it relates to us today, and relate how this affects our future.

AIM: I want to convincingly show that the history of the resurrection, our baptism, and the hope we have for the future should motivate each individual to more dedicated service in their life to the Christ.

Sermon on Preaching – Preaching to Bring About Faith

Introduction: Read Acts 8:12

1. Pentecost (Acts 2) gives us a great example as to what to preach.

1) Every word designed to awaken faith in Jesus.

2) Then to motivate the audience to faithful obedience.

2. But did the next evangelists follow the same pattern? It is good to notice what the next evangelists preached because THAT’S what WE need to preach.

3. About the text:

1) Christians were scattered because of the persecution in Jerusalem (Stephen, Acts 7).

2) They didn’t scatter and hide, they scattered and preached (Acts 8:4), and so we find Philip in Samaria.

3) The Lord worked miracles through him so that the people would believe, John 20:30-31, Mark 16:20; Heb. 2:3-4.

4. The content of his preaching is critical

1) The things concerning the Kingdom of God.

2) The name of Jesus Christ.

5. When they heard these things they believed and obeyed.

6. Because we have been given the job of world evangelism (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-47), just like Philip we ought to examine what the New testament has to say about the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ.

Sermon on Procrastination – Overcoming Procrastination

INTRODUCTION

A. There are numerous problems that need to be corrected in the Lord’s church today, but perhaps none more than the problem of procrastination.

1. So often, the resources are available, the fields are white unto harvest, and the opportunities abound – but the laborers are few (Mat. 9:37-38)

2. WHY?

a. Is it because so many are unaware of their responsibility to serve

b. Or is it because those who are aware of their responsibility, lack the ability to serve?

c. Or could it be that the majority of folks know their responsibility, have the necessary abilities to render effective service unto God, but just never get around to using those talents?

3. Genesis 3 will give us some insight into these questions.

B. The Bible is a book about sin.

2. The remaining 1,187 chapters depict man as a sinner, and as one who is in need of grace – the salvation that can only be found in Christ.

3. In this lesson I want us to go back in our minds to the garden of Eden, to a time when sin first entered the world, and notice some very important points that will help us in our daily walk as a Christian.
