We Can Win One Soul To Christ In 2011!

Experts who have studied the world’s population, have concluded that there were about 200 million people living during the lifetime of Jesus — the same amount of people who presently use the social networking website called Facebook. Now that’s a lot of people, but relatively speaking it is a fairly small number.

For instance, the United States alone has over 300 million citizens. If we really want to talk about big numbers, think about the fact that by 1850, the world’s population had grown to approximately 1 billion folks. That’s five times more than lived in Jesus’ day.

But wait! Just one century later, in 1950, there were 2.5 billion people on earth — and there’s more. In 1987, just 37 years later, the 5 billionth person was born on planet earth (scroll down page to heading “World Population Reached”). Now that’s a truly a large number! Today, estimates place the world’s population at a little over 6.9 billion people and growing.

One more fact may help to put all of the above thoughts in proper perspective. Over half of the people who have ever lived on earth are still living today! That’s right! Think of it this way — if you added up all the people who have lived and died throughout history, the number would be smaller than the number of those who are living right now!

Brethren, just think of the incredible responsibility before us in teaching lost souls the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. Is it an impossible task? No — not at all! (cf. Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Colossians 1:23).

To illustrate, let’s assume that we are the only Christian in the world, and it takes us one full year to convert an individual to Christ. That one convert proceeds to do the same thing — converting another person each following year. It would take just a little over 33 years for the entire world to be won for Christ! And that’s if each Christian converted just one other person each year — certainly not an impossible task!

Remember the words of the Proverb writer, “He who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).

Brethren, let one of our spiritual goals in 2011, be that of winning one soul to Christ. With the Lord’s help — we can do it! (note the amount of visitors to this one Bible study blog in just one year).
