The Wedding at Cana Sermon outline discussing spiritual points taken from Jesus’ miracle at the wedding in Cana. By G. E. Watkins.

Introduction: Jesus was at a wedding at Cana, John 2:1-11

1. A situation arose at a joyful event that could have totally ruined it. (Reputations destroyed, scandal, tears, headlines.)

2. The bridegroom and the ruler of the feast had no solution. The concern and knowledge of Mary turned a disaster into a legendary event.

3. There are principles in this story that need to be noted and taken to heart.

DISCUSSION: [ Discussion of wedding at Cana sermon ]

I.   At the Wedding at Cana, Mary knew of a source no one else did.

1. She saw the disaster brewing and her mind naturally went to her personal resources. Her son was the Son of God.

2. 2 Kings 7:9 (lepers, Syrian camp).

3. When we see the disaster of a lost soul let us remember the Savior.

II.  At the Wedding at Cana, Mary urged the servants to obey Jesus.

1. “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it,” v. 5.

2. No better advice exists top side of this earth.

3. Because those servants did what Jesus said the problem was solved.

4. As a preacher I urge you and the world, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”

III. At the Wedding at Cana Jesus’ Solution was Adequate and More.

1. The problem was completely solved just as Mary had hoped, v. 10.

2. When we have needs we can trust that Jesus is able and willing to aid us. Matt. 6:33; Psa. 37:25; Phil. 4:19.

IV.  At the Wedding at Cana, His Disciples Believed on Him.

1. They believed His teaching because of the miracle.

2. Like Nicodemus, John 3:2.

3. As John put it, John 20:30-31.

Conclusion:

1. Is there a disaster brewing in your life? If you were to die tonight…?

2. I know someone who can provide what you lack. He proved it at a Wedding at Cana.

3. Do what He says!
