INTRODUCTION: Read Acts 4:36.

1. Apostles naming of Barnabas shows the importance of encouragement.

2. How can we encourage one another like Barnabas?

DISCUSSION:

I.   By Example

1. Barnabas sold land … gave. Acts 4:37.

2. By living active faith. Romans 1:12.

3. Being careful not to abuse freedom. 1 Corinthians 8:10.

II.  With Words

1. “Continue in the faith.” Acts 14:22.

2. By letter and speech. Acts 15:31, 32

3. Preaching is for encouragement. 1 Corinthians 14:3, 31

4. Encourage with the promises. 1 Thessalonians 4:18

III. With Presence

1. Tychicus with news. Ephesians 6:21-22

2. With Paul’s presence. Colossians 2:1-2.

3. With your presence. Hebrews 10:25.

CONCLUSION: How can we encourage one another in the faith?

1. With a good example.

2. With words that encourage.

3. With our presence in worship and other activities of the church.

    I am a new Pastor and was looking through your sermons and I am impressed. I am preaching early on Sundays to the homeless at the park before services at our church and then we feed them and I was looking for some ideas on those times , if you have any suggestions at all I would appreciate some ideas.
