Secret Things?

1. Israel is in captivity, God is giving His reasons.
2. Some of what Israel did he did secretly.
3. Notice that with the mention here that it was not secret.
[How sad it is to see the delusions they were under, that they could keep anything secret from God. Is it not true that we are often under the same delusion?]
DISCUSSION:
I. FEAR! FOR GOD SEES THE SECRET THINGS.
1. He saw it in the Garden, Genesis 3:6-13.
2. He saw Abel buried in the ground, Genesis 4:8-10.
3. He saw David’s secret. 2 Samuel 12:1-7.
4. He saw the abomination in the temple, Ezekiel 8:1-12.
5. He saw the dreams in the king’s head, Daniel 2:1-28, 47.
6. He knew the hearts of Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5:1ff.
7. The wicked fool themselves.
1) The secret things belong to God, Deuteronomy 29:29.
2) The evil man thinks that God will not see his deeds, Psalm 10:8-11.
3) God sees our sins, 90:8.
4) Evil cannot be hidden, Jeremiah 23:23, 24.
8. We know we can’t get away with sinning before God.
1) God knows what you stole, about the drinking, about the lying, about the fornication, about those lustful thoughts, about the grudge you hold.
2) He knows the things that would shock your closest friend.
3) Notice what God is going to bring up at the judgment, Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14.
II. REJOICE, FOR GOD SEES THE SECRET THINGS.
1. God will reward openly those good things done in secret, Matthew 6:1-6.
2. That which is hidden will be made known. Luke 8:16, 17.
3. Matthew 25. 25:31ff.
4. There is a record kept in heaven, Rev. 20:11-15.
CONCLUSION: Psalm 19:12; Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14.
