Satisfying The Thirsty Soul

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags:

In Psalm 42:1, the Psalmist compares the physical thirst of a deer with spiritual thirst: “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.”

His thirst was that of a desperate longing for the only true and living God (Psalm 42:2).

Are we longing for something this world can’t provide? This dissatisfaction is the thirsting of our soul for God (Psalm 63:1).

Our Lord said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

Dear reader, if we are thirsty, let us run to the One who alone can quench our thirst (John 4:14) — remembering that, “He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:9).
