In the 2011, volume 49, number 2 edition of The Sword and Staff publication, pg. 2, comes the following proverbs of wisdom (appropriate Scriptures and related articles have been added):

  • Christian is as Christian does (James 1:22-25).
  • We need to love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12) and to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
  • The best proof of Christianity is Christianity.
  • When the Word of God is preached, the Holy Spirit convicts us because He has first convinced us (John 16:7-11; Acts 2:36-41).
  • Our love for Christ is measured by our obedience to Him (John 14:15).
  • Nothing works like work (coupled with prayer) in getting the Lord’s work done (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3; 1 Corinthians 15:58).
  • Charity begins at home but it should never end there (Gal. 6:10; cf. Proverbs 3:27-29).
  • To continue in the love of Christ, we must love Him and keep His commandments (John 15:9-10).
  • To live within your means, means to practice frugality.
  • Sow deeds of love and reap a bountiful harvest of good works (Gal. 6:7-8).
