Genesis 7:1-10

Categories: Bible Study Lessons

This passage illustrates well the meaning of faith. Noah had never seen rain but God told him it was going to flood. Noah couldn’t know by experience whether the untested Ark would float. At God’s word Noah obeyed and did His will. We have never seen the new Jerusalem, the resurrection, or the Lord that saved us, but at God’s word we must trust that new Jerusalem (Rev. 21:2) where man will dwell with God, is there, that the resurrection will be carried out just as God has promised (1 Cor. 15:51-57; 1 Thess. 4:16-18) and that the Lord really does have a place prepared for us (John 14:1-3; 1 Pet. 1:3-4).

Many claim that faith is beyond evidence. This is not Bible faith. We have faith in things we know (John 4:42).

Noah was rewarded for his obedience. As the fountains of the deep burst forth it was soon apparent that he was wise to obey God. The Ark floated because Noah did exactly what God commanded. Noah’s life depended on it. Your soul depends on whether you have obeyed God’s plan for salvation exactly as God gave it.
