Doing Wrong Is Always Wrong!

In our society of loose and sagging morals, Satan provides us many rationalizations for sinful behavior. Those who would live faithful Christian lives, must not be “ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).

1) Doing wrong is always wrong despite our efforts to excuse our actions (Genesis 3:6-13).

2) Doing wrong is always wrong, even if we don’t get caught. Let us remember that “the eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3; cf. Hebrews 4:13).

3) Doing wrong is always wrong, even if we do something for a good cause. The honorable purpose does not justify a dishonorable deed or action. The end never justifies the means. John tells us that, “All sin is transgression of the law.” (1 John 3:4).

4) Doing wrong is always wrong, even if others are doing worse things. If we loose our souls on judgment day, it will bring us little comfort knowing that others did things which we considered to be worse than our own sins. The Proverb writer states, “The thought of foolishness is sin” (Proverbs 24:9).

5) Doing wrong is always wrong, even if it doesn’t bother our conscience. The conscience can be trained or educated to accept wrong-doing (1 Timothy 4:1-2; cf. Ephesians 4:17-19). Even an honest sin or evil done in sincerity, is sinful in the sight of the holy God (1 Samuel 15:20-24; Gal. 6:7).

6) Doing wrong is always wrong, even if it is commonly considered acceptable by the majority, for the Scripture says, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” (Exodus 23:2). The Christian should “not enter the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn away from it and pass on” (Proverbs 4:14-15). “Prove all things and hold fast to that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22).

Let’s remember, it’s never right to do a wrong – no matter what the majority might say! Doing wrong is always wrong! (Isaiah 5:20).
